Altruism in Op-Ed
Thomas M. Miovas, Jr.
>From Harry Binswanger:
>
>In the article there is not a glimmer of the idea that "duty to society" is
>an idea that some might, uh, question. Objectivists have a long way to go,
>and the first signs of victory will be when such authors start attacking us
>and/or apologizing.
It will probably take a while for that to happen. Though Clinton
has decided the US government can't afford to give back $800
billion to the tax payers, the most moral president in history
has decided the US government can afford to forgive $13 trillion
dollars or so to debtor nations. And that's not counting the,
what, $48 billion that went into Russian yachts.
The figures above may not be exact, but the principle is. It's
OK to give away money that has been earned, so long as you
didn't earn it, and so long as one does not ask for any returns
on money that has been stolen.
But wait! Tomorrow he will discover another couple of trillion
dollars in surplus to give away -- just in case you were worried.
