Cesar Chavez: Horror File?
Thomas M. Miovas, Jr.
As I awoke this morning, I heard a news broadcast regarding the Dallas City
Council proposing to honor César Chávez by eliminating Presidents Day.
While I don't know a lot about Mr. Chavez, this strikes me as desiring to
replace a celebration of (implicit) individualism with (more or less
explicit) collectivism. Does anyone know more about Chavez and what he
represented?
<HB: Just that he must have been a Red, because he was a cause celebre for
all dedicated leftists.>
You can read more about the proposed plan here:

"Mr. Chávez, who died in 1993, was honored with the Presidential Medal of
Freedom, the country's highest civilian honor, one year later. He founded
the National Farm Workers Association in 1962, which later merged with
another union to form the United Farm Workers."
