Where Ideas Are Brought Down to Earth!

Writings based on Objectivism, the philosophy of Ayn Rand

Ayn Rand's most popular novels are Atlas Shrugged and The Fountainhead which present her philosophy, Objectivism, in vivid characterizations. Metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, esthetics, and  politics are the five main branches of philosophy that she identifies. Utilizing her methodology, one can be rational about all aspects of life. These essays present my understanding of Objectivism.

Frontline: The War Behind Closed Doors
Thomas M. Miovas, Jr.

I watched a recent episode of the PBS series Frontline which
focused on the reasons why President Bush and the administration
want to go to war with Iraq. Essentially, they want to make Iraq a
test case of transforming various regions of the Middle East into
"democracies" that are friendly to the United States. It outlined a
very ambitious plan of using the conquered nation of Iraq as a
staging area for subduing terrorism in the entire region, including
ousting the current leadership of various countries. Though they
didn't use the term, it sounds as if there is a plan in the works to
"de-nazify" the entire Middle East.

The program will be available on-line on 02/25/2003.
