Where Ideas Are Brought Down to Earth!

Writings based on Objectivism, the philosophy of Ayn Rand

Ayn Rand's most popular novels are Atlas Shrugged and The Fountainhead which present her philosophy, Objectivism, in vivid characterizations. Metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, esthetics, and  politics are the five main branches of philosophy that she identifies. Utilizing her methodology, one can be rational about all aspects of life. These essays present my understanding of Objectivism.

It's Time to Call the Bush Victory
Thomas M. Miovas, Jr.

I disagree that an attempt to sway the Electoral
College vote of December 18 is dangerous. There are provisions
in the various state electoral college election processes that
permit such a change on the part of some electoral voters. To
say that this is dangerous is to say that it is dangerous for
the states qua states to chose their elected representative (the
President). Originally, the President of the United States was
supposed to be the representative *of the states* to the world,
not the representative of the people (who have duly elected
representatives to represent them in the House of Representatives).
