What Have We Lost? by Robert Tracinski
Thomas M. Miovas, Jr.
I want to highly recommend an article in the new issue of "The Intellectual
Activist" written by Robert Tracinski entitled: What Have We Lost? The War
for the American Sense of Life. This article puts into words what I have
been feeling for almost a year since 911 of 2001, which has been primarily
disappointment at the intellectual and political reactions of our "leaders"
to those events. I say "almost a year" because for at least several months
I felt outrage that I thought would be backed up by the United States Armed
Forces. I don't think we have done nearly enough to secure this country
from future attacks by fundamentalist Muslims; but, as Tracinski points out
in this article, that's only the tip of the battle. And the fault is not
with our military, but rather with the ideas that have been accepted by the
leaders of our government. This article is one of the most philosophic in
recent issues of "The Intellectual Activist" and Robert Tracinski needs to
be congratulated for its writing.
