Where Ideas Are Brought Down to Earth!

Writings based on Objectivism, the philosophy of Ayn Rand

Ayn Rand's most popular novels are Atlas Shrugged and The Fountainhead which present her philosophy, Objectivism, in vivid characterizations. Metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, esthetics, and  politics are the five main branches of philosophy that she identifies. Utilizing her methodology, one can be rational about all aspects of life. These essays present my understanding of Objectivism.

Speaking of Equivocation...

>President Bill Clinton also weighed in Saturday.
>Speaking in the Sequoia National Forest in California,
>the president said, "We have to let the court cases
>be decided, but I think the main thing is I hope
>all the people who came to the United States
>because we have freedom and rule of law
>will observe the rule of law."

Look who's talking about obeying the rule of law....oh, wait, it
says "observe," not "obey."

Notice the implication of the last phrase: observe the rule of
law, but don't seek (more) freedom.

A better President in better times would have said something
like: observe the rule of law, because it protects your freedom.
